International Keynote Speaker | Wild Plant Specialist | Podcast Host

Inspiring audiences worldwide to rediscover their bond with the living world of wild plants, through stories, science and sensory experience.

Balikesir 7th Aromatherapy festival

I have spent 25 years helping people rebuild something most of us have lost: a living, reciprocal relationship with the plants around us. I trained formally as a herbalist, then turned that training into a living practice through courses, walks and workshops.

I am the founder of Wild Plant Forager, host of the Dutch-spoken Wilde Wieven podcast (over 150 000 downloads) and English-spoken WYLDE podcast (with listeners in +25 countries), and the author of several books on wild plant foods and heritage. My keynotes bring European plant traditions and modern ecological thinking together, inviting audiences to rediscover the wonder and intelligence of the natural world, and how it can inspire a more resilient, plant-based future.

Herbal medicine IS medicine: what the WHO TCIM strategy means for you

Booked in 2026 for HerbFest Portugal

A groundbreaking talk on the future of health, where ancestral plant wisdom informs global healthcare policy

I was personally invited to become a Champion of Health: an independent, voluntary ambassador for the WHO Traditional, Complementary & Integrative Medicine (TCIM) Strategy 2025–2034. Serving entirely on an unpaid, non-governmental basis, I maintain my fierce grassroots autonomy while being recognized globally as a leading voice in this paradigm shift.

A groundbreaking talk on the future of health, where ancestral plant wisdom reclaims its place at the heart of global wellbeing.

We live in a moment of shifting paradigms. The World Health Organisation has officially recognized traditional and herbal medicine as a cornerstone for global health. Yet, the disconnect between institutional policy and community reality remains wide. This talk bridges that gap.

Drawing on my 25 years of experience, my role as a WHO Champion of Health, and a lifetime of listening to plants and people, I bring clarity, urgency, and wonder to one of the most vital but often overlooked conversations in health today.

This talk may shake assumptions and expand perspectives. I welcome an open, rigorous discussion afterwards to vision the future of health care together.

After this talk, participants will know

  • Why herbal medicine is not alternative medicine: it is the original medicine, and why reclaiming this narrative is essential for the future of healthcare

  • What the evidence says about the value of plant medicine for human health, ecological balance, and a sustainable world

  • How integrating herbal medicine builds personal autonomy, community-led care, and ecological resilience"

  • Perfect for: medical and healthcare conferences · sustainability summits · integrative health events · public health gatherings · wellness retreats · academic symposia · corporate wellbeing programmes

  • Limited availability for 2026 and 2027

  • Keynote format options:

    • In-person or online

    • Duration: 50 min. talk. Optional Q&A or panel discussion afterwards.
